Class Descriptions

Story Drama (Pre-K)
In our story drama class at MCT, we instill the basic knowledge of stage direction through an engaging program of short performances derived from classic fairy tales. Each class the students will learn various roles from familiar stories such as "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" and "The Three Little Pigs", which are then performed live for the parents. This method of learning helps establish a strong foundation for any young actor or actress to grow and thrive on stage.

Acting Class
Our standard acting classes start at 1st grade and go all the way through high school. These classes focus more specifically on preparing students for upcoming productions and the technical ins and outs of stage acting such as: monologue reading, spacial awareness, interaction, and blocking.

Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre classes at MCT are slightly more advanced than our acting classes; although no previous experience is required, some students consider it to be more difficult than acting class because the main focus is on singing and choreography. This class is geared towards developing strong presentation while singing and dancing on stage so it is excellent for beginning actors looking to expand on previous training in voice and dance.

Acting/Musical Theatre Camp
Acting and musical theatre camps offered by MCT are an exciting glimpse into the world of theatre, but more importantly, they provide an opportunity to experience acting if your child has shown interest but is apprehensive of a full on production. They will rehearse and perform alongside newcomers and veterans of the stage. For those who wish to pursue acting in full scale productions, summer camps allow children to become familiar with the investment and dedication required to excel on stage.

Movie Camp
In addition to our traditional theatre camps, MCT provides an off stage alternative that is well suited for those new to acting or those looking to expand creative talent in film making. Not only will the children star in the movie, but they will also be heavily involved in the creation of the plot and in the direction of the movie. In this camp, we attempt to let the children be as outgoing and as expressive as possible because it is a truly free medium. Mondays are spent collectively writing the script; Tuesdays are geared towards set design; and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are reserved for filming. The week following movie camp will be spent editing the film, and each family will receive a copy on DVD.
